# Previous searches

> Every search stays live: reopen it, keep reviewing, refine it, or mine it for the next mandate.

A SourcerPro search isn't a one-time report — it's a workspace that persists.

## Reopening a search

The **Previous searches** rail in SourcerPro lists every run. Reopening one restores the whole state: the shortlist with your Yes/Maybe/No reviews, the market read, the suggestions, and the refine chat. Nothing you did expires.

## What reopening is good for

* **Continuing a half-reviewed shortlist** — the "learning your target" counter picks up where you stopped.
* **Refined runs on old ground** — a new constraint applied to an existing search is [a refinement, not a new verified search](/en/sourcer/verified-searches-and-credits).
* **Mining for a new mandate** — a similar role six months later? The old shortlist plus [Smart Match](/en/pipeline/smart-match) over your imports often covers the longlist before you spend anything.

## Searches and mandates

Searches and jobs are linked but not fused: the search finds people, the [mandate's pipeline](/en/pipeline/stages-and-candidates) runs the placement. Import connects the two — which is why [importing your keepers](/en/sourcer/from-sourcer-to-ats) matters even when a search ends without a placement.
