# Salary package on the candidate

> Record what a candidate earns today and what they expect, with a currency per amount, and filter your database by it.

The salary package keeps a candidate's pay on the record as separate figures: current fixum, bonus, deferred pay, expected fixum and expected total cash. Each amount has its own currency.

## A day with the salary package

Laura is an executive search consultant in Munich. She works a Head of Finance mandate for a client in Zurich. This morning she finished a call with Anna Beispiel, a finance director at Muster Personal GmbH.

Anna told her three things. She earns 150,000 CHF fixed and a 30,000 CHF bonus. She would move for 200,000 CHF in total. Her notice is three months to the end of a quarter.

Before, Laura would have typed this into a note. A week later nobody could filter for it, and she would have to remember which candidates wanted what. Now she writes it on the record.

**1. Laura opens Anna's record and clicks the pencil in Record details**

The pay rows sit under **Additional details**. Each is a normal row, edited the way every other detail is edited.

**2. She types the amounts, each with its currency**

**Current fixum**: `150000 CHF`. **Bonus**: `30000 CHF`. **Expected total cash**: `200000 CHF`. **Bonus info**: "Paid in March". **Notice terms**: "3 months to quarter end". **Pay as of**: `2026`. She saves.

**3. The pay line appears under Anna's name at once**

No reload. Under the name, one line now reads the main figures, so Laura sees Anna's expectations the moment she opens the record, before a client call.

**4. Weeks later she searches her own database by pay**

A second client asks for a finance lead who expects less than 220,000. Laura opens the filters and asks for it. See [Filter Candidates with the AI filter](https://support.yena.ai/en/workspace/ai-filter.md). Anna is in the result, because the filter reads the same package.

What Laura gets: the figures live on the record, with their currency and the year they were true. Nothing depends on a note she wrote and forgot, and the database can answer a pay question.

## The pay rows

| Row | What it holds |
| - | - |
| **Current fixum** | Fixed annual pay today. |
| **Bonus** | Current bonus. |
| **Deferred** | Deferred pay. |
| **Expected fixum** | The fixed pay the candidate expects. |
| **Expected total cash** | Fixed pay plus bonus the candidate expects. |
| **Bonus info** | Free text, for example how the bonus is paid. |
| **Bonus payment date** | When the bonus is paid. |
| **Notice terms** | Free text, next to the existing **Notice period** in days. |
| **Pay as of** | The year the figures were true. |

In the read-only view of Record details, rows with no value are not shown. Click the pencil to see and fill all of them.

## How to enter an amount

Type the number, a space and the three-letter currency code: `85000 CHF`. A lowercase code is fine, Yena upper-cases it.

* **No currency typed:** the amount is saved without one and shows as "85,000 · currency?". Yena never assumes a currency for you.
* **Letters that are not a currency code** (for example "EURO") are refused with a reason, and Save stays blocked until you fix them.
* **Shorthand like `85k`** is not accepted. Write the full number.
* **Clear a row** by emptying it and saving.

## Import and CVs

* **CSV import:** the wizard can map columns to the package rows. A row's **Salary Currency** applies to every amount next to it. The number formats "85,000" and "85.000,50" are both read correctly. A new person gets the package from the file. For someone already in your database, only package fields that are still empty are filled.
* **CVs and notes:** when Yena reads pay figures from a CV or notes, it fills the package only if the person has none yet. It never overwrites what you typed.

## Filter by pay

The **Current salary** and **Salary expectation** filters read the package first:

* **Current salary** reads Current fixum, and falls back to the older Current salary value.
* **Salary expectation** reads Expected total cash, then Expected fixum, then the older Salary expectation value.

Amounts are compared as plain numbers. Yena does not convert currencies, so a filter above 200,000 treats CHF and EUR figures alike. Check the currency on the record when it matters.

## Good to know

* **Older records keep their old fields.** Candidates with a Current salary or Salary expectation from earlier keep them. As soon as a package has an amount, the pay line and the filters use the package.
* **Everyone who can open the candidate can see the pay.** There is no separate permission for it yet.

## FAQ

> [accordion] Why does an amount say "currency?"
>
> It was saved without a currency. Edit the row and add the code, for example `85000 CHF`.

> [accordion] Does Yena convert CHF to EUR?
>
> No. Amounts are stored and filtered as typed. Add the currency so you can tell them apart.

> [accordion] Where is the pay line when a candidate has no package?
>
> It falls back to the older Current salary and Salary expectation values, where the record has them.
